It’s a record breaking week in Buckets. The previous record highest weekly total was 165 points recorded back in the 2013-2014 season. That was smashed by five teams this week. Hats off to Neil Madrid, To Elland Back, FC Caligula and The Craggy Islanders for playing the double gameweek and winning. Double hats off to Edgbaston, who with 181 points, have the highest weekly total ever recorded by a Buckets team. A total of 29 teams scored triple figure scores –  including all but one of our top 21.

When Harry Met Alli scored 149 points. They and the Islanders leapfrog Aquamar, whose comparatively meagre 114 sees them drop into third. It’s still a three way fight for the title, but the momentum is surely with the top two teams. WHMA were chipped out (but for All Out Attack) so the fact that they matched those playing their triple captains and bench boosts is pretty remarkable. I predicted the Islanders might sneak into first place this week given they had their bench boost remaining. Both teams had Sanchez and Kane in their ranks but chose a different captain. One of them might have sewn the title up had they gone with the slightly more obvious choice.

Harry Kane’s 31 points is the highest weekly player score of the season. Alexis Sanchez held that record for all of two days before Kane’s blitz against Leicester last night. Gabriel Jesus was another popular armband choice among Buckets managers, and also came good with a 19 point haul. Curiously, Diego Costa  was the most popular captain choice in the world game according to the FPL site. Buckets managers are obviously a lot more savvy. I’m not sure any of us went down that route. Didn’t it seem way too obvious that Chelsea would win the league at West Brom and then rotate?

Edgbaston, who bench boosted to get their 181 points, now sit in fourth place. The race for the final prize money slot is still probably between five teams. There are 23 points separating them and Hedgehog Corpse in eighth. Unsurprisingly they also lead the chase for the May manager of the month with the other high scorers from this double gameweek in hot pursuit.

Player of the week – Harry Kane – 31 points. Now leads the golden boot chase.

Bargain of the week – Kyle Naughton – 15 points. Non-double gameweeker and serial donkey. Well done Kyle.

Donkey of the week – Christian Fuchs – -1 points. Conceding six doesn’t help.

Goal of the week – Shinji Okazaki.
