The Golden Boys have strengthened their position at the top of the league posting the highest score of the week with 78 points, and in doing so winning their first manager of the week award. They scored 20 points more than most of the chasing pack and become the first team past the 600 point barrier. They haven’t played any wildcards or chips yet. They haven’t even had to pay for a transfer. And they’re one of the few teams (maybe the only Buckets team) who plumped for Heurelho Gomes as one of their keepers. It’s a punt that’s paying off. The Watford stopper kept his fifth clean sheet at the weekend, picked up two more bonus points and moved to the top of the keeper charts. The Golden Boys are smashing it. And they’ve unluckily just missed out on the October manager of the month. In August they finished fifth in the monthly table – in September they finished sixth. They made a late charge for the October award but just fell short, finishing fifth…

So it’s congratulations to Game of Throw Ins who are the October champs. They’re equal top of the monthly table on 271 points, but scored two more goals than Hedgehog Corpse (19-17) to nick the prize. Hedgehog were clear on Saturday night but double figure contributions from Romelu Lukaku and Graziano Pelle on Sunday saw GOTIs edge ahead. Hedgehog will be disappointed having left 16 points on the bench. It would have been more than enough to secure the award. Kicking themselves even harder should be Romeo’s and the Biscuitmen, who had 17 and 25 points sat on their respective benches. Again, more than enough to pinch the October prize, and considering their mega scores in gameweek 8, it’s a prize money opportunity missed.

Player of the week – Arouna Kone – 20 points. At £4.8 million, our cheapest POTW yet.

Bargain of the week – Jack Butland – 11 points. Always hard to pick when the POTW is so cheap.

Donkey of the week – Russell Martin – -2 points. Double donkey.

Goal of the week – Philippe Coutinho. His second GOTS nomination.
