Another impressive roll call of scores, most of which were above average. The highest being the 86 points accumulated by Howayman which enabled them to jump nine places in the league. The most telling total came from Biscuitmen whose 80 points catapulted them to the top of the table from 10th position. At the end of gameweek 7 Biscuitmen were 60 points off the top and floating around in mid table. It’ll be of no surprise to learn that they’re also in pole position for the October award.

Last weeks leaders, Your Ad Here, dropped 6 places to seventh. It looks like they were forced into making multiple substitutions, having already wildcarded in gameweek 3, and the punt on replacing Aguero with Sturridge didn’t pay off. Both Howayman and Biscuitmen played their triple captain chip. Howayman gained 30 points giving the armband to Alexis Sanchez, whilst Biscuitmen picked up 36 points from Diego Costa.

Remarkably, for the second successive gameweek a player hit the 25 point mark. Georginio Wijnaldum scored four goals and picked up three inevitable bonus marks for Newcastle Against Norwich, matching Sergio Aguero’s total from gameweek 8. I think I’ve put everyone off having any Newcastle players in their team. No-one seemed to have him. Correct me if I’m wrong. It elevates him into the top four midfielders and to sixth in the overall player totals. I sense a value that was dropping may soon start to rise again.

Player of the week – Georginio Wijnaldum – 25 points. Erasing the memory of gameweek 8 (kind of).

Bargain of the week – Manuel Lanzini – 13 points. Under the radar, relatively cheap, always starting and consistently scoring.

Donkey of the week – Russell Martin – -1 points. It was always going to be a Norwich player.

Goal of the week – Aleksandar Mitrovic. Before his inevitable sending off next week.
