Gameweek 29 preview

March 6, 2014

08 Mar 12:45 West Brom v Man Utd
08 Mar 15:00 Cardiff City v Fulham
08 Mar 15:00 Crystal Palace v Southampton
08 Mar 15:00 Norwich v Stoke City
08 Mar 17:30 Chelsea v Tottenham

Potentially a killer weekend. Only five ties, none of which seem to offer any clear cut chances of goal fests of clean sheets. And none offering much long term benefit when considering, as you should, the bumper double gameweek in a fortnights time.

Of the 10 teams playing only Manchester United play twice in that gameweek. In any other season a match against West Brom, albeit away from home, would be a no brainer for potential United transfers. They should win, but their double gameweek consists of a tougher away trip to West Ham, and the Manc derby. And next week they take on Liverpool and the SAS scoring machine. So is it worth introducing United players to your team this week to see them fall short over the next fortnight?

Getting the balance right between getting as many men out on the pitch this week, and then having as many double gameweekers playing in two weeks time is key. Now that Arsenal, Swansea, Newcastle and Everton have all been added to that double gameweek list, maybe there’s a case for leaving players from those teams in your squad, taking the hit this week, and reaping the rewards further down the line. Choice is yours.
