The question is, when are United going to start playing? When will the backlash start? They couldn’t possibly lose three on the trot could they? Well, no, probably not. Just when they needed to play someone on a worse run than them, and along comes a trip to Sunderland. Which in it’s own way causes one of those mini headaches. With a harder fixture this week managers may have been tempted to get rid of their United contingent. There’s really only Wayne Rooney consistently scoring above his basic appearance points at the moment. Yet look who Liverpool play? The other whipping boys. It’s a shame, but checking who Palace are playing from week to week is a strong influence on deciding on possible players to bring in. In the case of this week – can you really see either Suarez or Sturridge NOT scoring? So, drop Van Persie for Suarez, or give it another week? Van Persie’s not worth the 14 million hole in your budget at the moment that’s for sure – and replacing him with any other in form striker is going to save you wads of cash, but you just know what will happen.

And United’s fixture run is fairly kind. Following Sunderland, they have home ties against Southampton and Stoke, followed by an away day at Fulham. But – if they can’t beat West Brom at home?!? That’s not to discredit West Brom on their performance. Morgan Amalfitano, last weeks man of the match, is still stuck on 5 million – his starting value. A surprise. It’s two consecutive weeks of double figure scoring for the Frenchman. A definite one to watch for future weeks.

It’s not just Luis Suarez who should be considered as a replacement striker. Romelu Lukaku has done enough in one and half games for Everton to be considered as their number one target man. A tougher test lies in wait for him this week against City, but there are favourable fixtures in the weeks ahead for the Toffees. Maybe drafting him in now will save you a vital few quid.

It’s not just United in disarray. Chelsea don’t look at all convincing. Their stuttering start is reflected in the fact that every Chelsea player bar Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry and Oscar has seen their value decrease. So, still dependable at the back, but the interchanging of their many legions of forward players is leading may fantasy managers to look elsewhere. And invariably with better results.
