A fantastic week for the Upper Bullens, who after a pretty dismal start, and being bottom of the pile a fortnight ago, now find themselves in 20th, having climbed seven places in the last gameweek. Their score of 73 was the best of the week, and was achieved despite having this weeks donkey – Nathan Dyer – and a keeper that didn’t play. Demba Ba was an inspired choice of captain, and both Lescott and Baines added 11 points each for their clean sheets, assists and bonuses.

The leader hasn’t been hauled in. Rip Roaring Reds have extended their lead slightly over Hedgehog Corpse, but the teams below have bunched together a lot more. Twenty teams sit in the 50 point bracket between 280 and 230 points – a difference that can easily be made up in a week or two. Another 70+ points week for Upper Bullens could easily see them edge towards the top 10. Note the usual shit is floating toward the bottom.

The coming weekend’s fixtures are the last of this game month. Bermie United lead the way in the chase for Manager of the Month. They have a 13 point lead over Rip Roaring Reds (yawn!). But, there are loads of other teams in with a shout. The top 16 in the monthly table below have a realistic chance – with the right captain choice, and the odd freak result going in someone’s favour…

  • Player of the week. Ashley Cole – 15 points. You still need some Chelsea players in there, even if you don’t like them
  • Bargain of the week. Rickie Lambert – 13 points. At last. A win. Deserved.
  • Donkey of the week. Nathan Dyer – -2 points. His value went up to 6.1 from 5.5. It’s now back down to 5.9. Came on at half time – and by the 55th minute was in the bath.

Goal of the weekend

Not much to choose from, but this was a sweet strike from Rafael.
