Team guides. Reading.

Key player – Pavel Pogrebnyak – 5m

Bought to score the goals to keep Reading in the Premier League, and he may well do that. 5 million seems like a snip for a player that settled into the Premier League very quickly in his short stint with Fulham last season. A bit of a coup signing for Reading. Well worth picking in your first team, given Reading play twice in gameweek 1. Opens the door for you picking two of the big three strikers.

New signing – Garath McCleary – 5m

From non-league football  four years ago to the Premier League via Nottingham Forest. McCleary earnt his move scoring 9 goals in 22 appearances for Forest, all of them coming in the second half of the season, following a return from a long injury lay off. He won Forest’s player of the season award. He’s one of many new Premier League players in that 5 million bracket that could surprise us all, or be a complete flop.

Bargain buy – Danny Guthrie – 4.5m

Undervalued by Newcastle fans, but was never going to usurpYohann Cabaye and Chiek Tiote from their central midfield. He should slot into this Reading team quite well. Another good punt for your starting team and beyond.

Avoid – Kaspars Gorkss – 4m

The most expensive Reading player is Jobi McAnuff at 5.5 million. All of them are potential bargains. But if you have to avoid anyone, steer clear of the defence. They’re gonna concede. And this guy has way to many s’s in his name.
