Gameweek 27 results

Ou est le table de la lique?

Forgot it.

Romeo’s-Honda-Van get the highest score of the gameweek with 69 points. A quarter of these points were won by their bench, as there were some unexpected omissions from Prem teams this week. Aguero and Silva were rested and left out of the City squad. Micah Richards and Gareth Bale were expected to be fit enough to play, but didn’t. A lot of teams had to rely on their substitutes. All three of mine were used – amassing a shitty 3 points. Romeo’s had Gylfi Sigurdsson and Phil Bardsley on the bench – scoring 17 points (Sigurdsson got 15 of them). Just aswell Sigurdsson was in reserve, as Romeo’s was one of many teams that had one or both of Ba or Sessegnon in their line up. Ba missed a penalty, and was booked, while Sessegnon got a straight red, and both ended up on a minus score. Another well used player, Nathan Dyer, was also sent off. I’d also add that Lee Cattermole got his 363rd red of the week, and the Wolves defence conceded five for the second time in 3 weeks. But if you’ve got either Cattermole or a Wolves defender in your team, I’d guess you gave up playing in August.

This was the first week of the cup. All of the bottom six clubs in the league have made it through to the first round proper. There were “shocks”. Dimbetweeners shocked twice league champs Pescara Rangers to progress. And TheBellsAreRinging beat twice monthly winners Magnificent Fifteen. It’s a shock, cos neither of these managers have given a shit since Autumn. The first round draw has thrown up some big ties. Romeo’s face Crazylegs, and Bermie United meet None of the Above. The winner of these two ties will meet – arguably paving the way for an easy cup win for Neil Madrid. Please believe me – the draw wasn’t fixed. And – I’m concentrating solely on the league anyway. Honest.

  • Player of the week – Ashley Young. This may be where United’s end of season charge begins.
  • Bargain of the week – Pavel Pogrebnyak. New striker on the block. Five in three.
  • Donkey of the week – Stephane Sessegnon. Has crept in to so many people’s teams. Now got a three match ban.

Goal o’t weekend

Van Persie’s volley against some Scousers. Player and goal of the season. Possibly.
