Take a look at the league table. Lets see if we can guess who does and who doesn’t have Robin Van Persie. A hat trick and two assists easily made him player of the week. And everyone who had him installed him as captain – probably mindful of the fact that Blackburn have been on the wrong end of some spankings at Arsenal over the years. This weekend was no different. Also prevalent in Arsenal’s win was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has started the last four games. Will this continue once Gervinho comes back from Africa? Possibly. He’s done more in those four games than Gervinho did in half a season.

Release the Hounds win team of the week. Backing up captain Van Persie were Juan Mata, with a goal, assist and top bonus points, the ever reliable Stephane Sessegnon and Ryan Taylor with another assist each, and three clean sheets from Assou-Ekotto, Kyle Walker and John Ruddy. Interestingly, RTH’s other two strikers only scored two points between them.

  • Player of the week – Robin Van Persie. Obvs.
  • Bargain of the week – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Better than Walcott.
  • Donkey of the week – Gael Givet. Seven conceded and sent off. Still got a nice beard though.
  • Cat of the week – The one that invaded the pitch at Anfield.

Goal o’t weekend

Mata’s volley. You probably all thought I’d give it to Cisse didn’t you?

 I enjoyed this too

I love it when Fergie buys hopeless flops – especially goalkeepers. But this was as good a save as I’ve ever seen .

You what?
