Can you all give me another £20 whe…I mean if I win this thing? It’s not going to feel like I’ve actually won anything. I’ve already got all your money. You do realise I’m basically telling you how to play this every week. Are you taking any notice?

Taking notice this week were Real Jorvik, who seem to be still operating with the “Transfers My Arse” policy that paid off for them last year – yet not so much this. Even in a week when the two players that were brought in (their 2nd and 3rd of the entire season) actually lost them five points, Jorvik still had enough to win the gameweek with 66 points. Someone had to take the Thierry Henry risk – Jorvik tried. The Paul Scholes risk was, as it turned out, the one worth taking.

For the first week in a while, those top team defenders earned their money. Five of the top seven managed a shut out. 39 of Jorvik’s 66 points were achieved by the back five. This probably won’t happen next week. Four of those teams play each other. And in the two reverse fixtures at the start of the season, 15 goals were scored. Will we see another 8-2? No. Don’t be daft.

The Africans have gone. Ba, Yaya and Tiote the most shifted. Already their values are dropping as players move them out of their teams. Which is kind of a good thing. Ba’s price had risen as high as 7.6 million. It’s dropped slightly to 7.4 as a result of almost 400,000 teams transferring him out. It could drop further. I hope Senegal get kn0cked out early. Come on Equatorial Guinea.

  • Player of the week – David Dunn. Blackburn’s season turning round?
  • Bargain of the week – Nathan Dyer. Annihilated Arsenal
  • Donkey of the week – Yakubu. Blackburn’s season doomed?

Goal o’t weekend

Leon Best. Honestly. Also, seems you can always rely on a Geordie to film his own television.
